The curriculum is specifically designed to create a passion for Physical Education, Sport, and wellbeing.

Physical Education Curriculum Intent

Pupils are encouraged to develop their physical literacy through taking ownership of their own personal development. Our curriculum is explicitly planned to be inclusive, ambitious, broad and balanced with an intent to develop a range of skills along with extensive knowledge of healthy active lifestyles for all pupils. It is coherently planned and sequenced to build confidence, character, resilience, determination, and respect.

We focus on the following areas.

Tactical developmentDeveloping tactical awareness and a range of strategies to gain an advantage and overcome opponents in a wide range of individual and team sports.

Skill development.  Developing a range of skills and continuing with technique progression for a wide range of individual and team sports. Skills will be developed and demonstrated in both isolation and conditioned practice.

Performance analysisSelf-evaluation of performance to identify strengths and areas for development across a range of individual and team sports. Appropriate steps for development to be highlighted and implemented to ensure progression.

Competence and attitude towards sportTo become competent and confident in a range of individual and team sports, both in conditioned practice and competitive games. To develop a positive attitude towards leading healthy and active lives.
